That and programming to far from the neutral model involves alot more work ^^ Whilst you raise a good point that their is a rising issues with men and body image, it is still primarily an issue that effects women, and in particular young women. The sort of age that might be playing an MMO for example. One argument need not be to the detriment of the other. The range of body sizes is clearly documented elsewhere, and it ranges from super lean -> a slight paunch. It is not representative of real body shape.

In local, portraits were faceless automatically - now they force you to look at them unless you indulge in machine code manipulations to stop them. Stay in jita for 4 hours afk and you will have 40 thousand sepearte files thrust onto your harddrive. There was no money grab buy a fancy hat going on. The portrait was a functional, non intrusive non resource hugging way of putting a face on a ship for those who were interested. Great. Forced Avatars are the thin end of the wedge, and mine, and many other refuseniks principled stand against it is taken away in this patch, wherby you "will not be able to continue past login screen without an avatar" CCP assured us for years the whole barbie dolls in space thing would be optional.. they lied. Todays patch heralds the forced removal of our rights not to particiapate in incarna as promised by CCP throughout the years.

WRONG And THIS is what I mean by the thin end of the wedge. The "station environment" option is a TEMPORARY fix to problems caused by people multi clienting in station with crappy pcs. It WILL BE TURNED OFF when they have updated their minimum spec page. Then you WILL HAVE TO participate in barbies in space to get anything done. Classic incrementalisation by CCP staff, slowly turning up the heat whilst the frogs dont notice.

Loving, intelligent, non hypocrites, with a proportional desire for currency, who understand we are all born in different shaped bodys, do not gain sexual gratification from a made up womans jiggling bottom in a red rubber suit, who do not push extreme body shapes as the norm to our youngsters in pursuit of currency, who do not work at CCP and have chose not to create an avatar thusfar in the game of eve. I was expecting it to be something like other mmos ive played in the past. Warhammer online sprining to mind. But the sheer depth and scale of the changes you can make were truyely astounding. I stand by my point earlier made that it should be more representative of different body sizes. I have sent a petition to CCP on the issue and hope to get it raised to a level where I can print a response on the forums if they let me. BUT IN THE MEANTIME WOW I selected the green bomber jacket with light green stripes, and the grey huggin teeshirt. There was not a great selection of trousers do i just went for the bog standard grey trousers with padded knees and brass buttons. For shoes I went with some brown leather. Understated (some might say plain) but I felt Johnsons would not be splashing out the isk on shoes when he could be buying missiles. yer get me? My officers quarters were spartan but clean. There are some strange containers in the corners Im dying to get a look in. Perhaps ccp have plans for them I was slightly shocked to see a corpse floating past my window as i walked into my living room. Though this turned out to be a vid screen showing some cool things. I sat on my sofa and watched for a bit though I was dying to get a look at my ship so i got up again EASTER EGG: YOU CAN STAND ON YOUR SOFA IF YOU IMMEDIATLY PUSH BACK WHEN STANDING FROM A SITTING POSITION Stood up, I had a commanding view of the room, and I spotted something that is not visible from ground. Ill let you all discover what that is.... All i can say is some dev has a talking to coming from his boss. So then i walked up the gang plank OMG MY CRANE IS DUCKING COOL Ive never realised the work CCP put into the models until im standing looking up at it. There are some clunks in the movement, and OMG im slow walking about, but im sure this will be dealt with by ccp. I stand by the comments I made about all you haters in this thread, but Ill admit CCP were right to force players to at least check out the char creation system. I mean, you can always turn it off.
